Calvert Premier Athletics was founded by Fred Calvert, a former athlete who developed his game at Zion-Benton Township High School before earning his Bachelor’s degree and competing at the collegiate level for the University of Dubuque in Iowa.

Built on toughness, driven by family, and centered on development, Calvert Premier Athletics is about more than improving athletic performance — it’s about mentoring young athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the court. Our mission is to cultivate discipline, resilience, and personal growth while helping every athlete build confidence, sharpen their skills, and develop a winning mindset.

For Fred, basketball has always been more than just a game. It’s a mental challenge — and it became a pathway to opportunity. The sport taught him a different level of toughness, introduced him to meaningful relationships, and connected him with coaches who saw more in him than he saw in himself. That experience now fuels his passion for mentoring the next generation.

With six years of coaching experience across multiple levels of the game, Fred brings energy, leadership, and a deep commitment to athlete development. He currently serves as the Freshman Head Coach at Carmel High School and is proud to be not only a coach, but also a husband and father who understands the importance of building strong foundations both in sports and in life.
